I'm changing this thing
Hello.
You might not have noticed, but there was no Magazine Diaries newsletter last week. I could use the excuse of a wonderful day out in Edinburgh, or the after affects of the Scottish Magazine awards, but I won’t.
Instead I’ll be honest and admit that I had nothing much to send you: who knew publishing ideas worth stealing were so hard to find? And, with that thought very much front-of-mind, I’m going to change the format of the newsletter.
Rather than hunt for three good ideas every week, I’m reimagining this as a place where I can force my ideas share my thoughts with you, more generally, on the bigger issues within the magazine industry.
That might be one thing, it might be five. It might be about good ideas or terrible ideas. It might just be me thinking out loud.
Whatever the newsletter ends up being, I’ll be free of the tyranny of scavenging for three solid ideas and 100% fired up to fight the good fight for magazines.
Maybe that’s a cop out, but it’s my newsletter and I can do whatever I want. Equally, you can unsubscribe (please don’t). But to be honest if this becomes a chore and I start phoning it in, you’ll unsubscribe anyway.
To get my head straight, and maybe give myself a bit of a run up, this will be the last Magazine Diaries newsletter of 2022. I’ll be back in the New Year with something better. Pinky promise.
Meanwhile, enjoy whichever flavour of this blessed season you celebrate and be absolutely sure to have an awesome Hogmanay.
Holiday hugs,
Peter
P.S. Seriously, I really hope you don’t unsubscribe.
