Hello!
I’ve been meaning to do this for such a long time now, but you know, life.
Anyway, welcome to the Magazine Diaries newsletter, a collection of the publishing ideas I’ve come across in the previous week that I think it might be worth stealing.
If you’re feeling a wee bit squeamish about the idea of stealing someone else’s ideas, don’t be. Lots of really smart people say it’s OK to steal good ideas.
Austin Kleon has been encouraging us to Steal Like an Artist for a decade. and Steve Jobs regularly borrowed Picasso’s quote about good artists copying, great artists stealing. Seth Godin practically begs people to steal his ideas - his only condition is you need to make them better.
Stealing actual stuff, absolutely not. Stealing ideas, perfectly fine.
So if you’re in the market for a weekly newsletter of good ideas from a publishing pro’ who’s still optimistic enough about magazine publishing to share ideas that I think might make this wonderful business better, sign up now.
